Company Profile

Middle East Technical University (METU) is the leading technical university in Turkey. The Software Research and Development Center (SRDC) was established by the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in October 1991 and is operating under the Faculty of Engineering in METU.

The aim of this center is twofold: to lead large-scale software research and development projects and to foster international cooperation. SRDC is involved in a number of research and development projects supported by the government, industrial companies, international organizations and the European Commission.

Apart from the local projects supported by the Turkish State Planning Organization, the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and by METU, SRDC has realized a part of the prototype for AWACS Man-Machine Interface Prototype for NATO Mid-Term Modernization Program in cooperation with Gallium Software Inc. (Canada); developed a health care information system which has been successfully commercialized in Turkey; and currently is the scientific coordinator of the European Commission supported MARIFlow project which intends to develop an agent based workflow management system for document flow over the Internet.

SRDC has experience in developing large scale software projects: METU Interoperable DBMS (MIND) Project is a multidatabase system based on OMG's distributed object management architecture. METU Object-Oriented DBMS (MOOD) Project is an object-oriented DBMS prototype. Both MIND and MOOD are considerably large size and complex software projects and hence provided the institution the necessary coding and management experience in large scale software development.
